Lowcountry Weekly visits Brewer’s

August 14th, 2008

Another great article on Brewer’s! Many of you have read the outstanding coverage we’ve received from the media over the last nearly 2 years… and now here is a great piece from Beaufort’s Lowcountry Weekly. Thanks Mark Shaffer!
Never underestimate the importance of beer. ImageThe late “gonzo” journalist, Hunter S. Thompson had a standing rule about covering wars: he’d walk into the mouth of Hell itself just as long as there was someplace to get a beer. Beaufort, of course, is no war zone, but the dog days of summer sure feel like hell which makes the search for the perfect Cold One an essential part of maintaining one’s sanity. We highly recommend a frosty fresh Paddler’s Organic Pale Ale or perhaps the Whale Branch Wit at Brewer’s Brewing Company in Beaufort Town Center. That’s right, Beaufort has a brew pub (rejoice all ye true believers in the Divine Trinity of Lager, Ale and Stout!).  And the brewer brewing the brew is actually named Brewer. This is truly a sign.
But there’s much more to Brewer’s than just the beer – although, believe us, the beer is worth the trip. Brewer’s has a full menu, serves both lunch and dinner and uses fresh, local - and organic – ingredients whenever possible. This is way beyond pub grub, but then this ain’t your daddy’s brew pub. Brewer’s is a green establishment -and we mean that in every sense of the word. From the natural materials used in the concrete to the “no flush’ urinal in the men’s bathroom, right down to the paint on the walls (yep, green) every care has been taken to make Brewer’s as eco-friendly as possible. It’s also family friendly and offers an eclectic choice of live entertainment and events in the evenings.
Brewer’s claims to bring a little hip to Beaufort, fortunately they brought the hops, as well. -Mark Shaffer (image and article)

COAST Brewing Visits Brewer’s!

July 26th, 2008

coast-logo.jpg

COAST Brewing owners Jaime and David joined us on Friday, June 25th. They brought an altbier (which I’d never had the pleasure of tasting before!)  ALTerior Motive™ is crafted after the authentic, or sticke, style that originated in Germany. It is extremely malty, aggressively hoppy and cold conditioned for a clean, smooth finish. 6.3% abv – and excellent summer beer.

While they enjoyed Brewer’s samplers, the keg they brought vanished before their eyes! We totally finished it in just a few hours. Remember, it was also Brewer’s Cask Night Friday- and that TOO was polished off in a few winks of an eye. If you were at the brewpub on Friday night, you know it was a crazy scene- the bar was really HOPin’!

COAST Brewing Co. is a small, family owned craft brewery - Located across from Noisette Creek in the sustainable community of the Navy Yard- in North Carleston.
To learn more about this great husband and wife team, visit Coast at: www.coastbrewing.com, and next time you’re in the Charleston area- ASK FOR IT! The beer is outstanding, and their focus on the environment in everything they do is refreshing! ~Alexia
